Oh Dear
My dear children, indeed, it is I. And yes, I realise that I “suck at life” to borrow the colloquialism. No new videos since I ate Vegemite when really the whole point of the Vegemite eating was to kick my butt into gear.
Now, here I am, halfway through my first semester of my second year of uni with absolutely nothing to show for it. I’ve been working on my feature film script, “Dave,” which I’m sure you would all like, but I can’t exactly post that up here. What would be the fun in that? (This is me reassuring the infinite abyss - aka my supposed audience - that I have continued to be productive although nothing has been produced as of late).
No my dear ones, I have not come to promise a video or short film in a few days or weeks. I’m not promising anything at all. I simply came to say hi. So…Hi. And to let you know that the next few videos (if I post them at all) will probably be test shots.
You see, my next quest is to create an experimental film. I mentioned this earlier. Something about “Mike,” but like I predicted, I went ape shit on it and tore it to pieces, laying it’s body to waste away in the desert of my putrid mind. A new idea has formed in the oasis and it has to do with snails. Stop looking at me like that. It’s an allegory.
The film is going to contain stop motion animation, claymation, hand drawn animation and live action. Edited together on split screen, all four sequences will play at once to create one picture. I’ve done hand drawn animation (poorly), stop motion animation and live action, but I have yet to try claymation. That is what the test film will be for. Teaching myself to manipulate clay.
That is all I have to say on the subject. Or any subject for that matter. Why am I even talking to you? This is so long, I know no one will read it. Oh well, fare thee well, infinite abyss.

Finished 18 pages of “Dave,” and I’m still not sure where it’s going. I like the character’s though. I like them a lot.
Excerpt from "Dave"
- Jen: Marlow, hey! How’s the lesser of the Carolinas?
- Marlow: Jen, I’m in deep shit.
- Jen: What’s wrong?
- Marlow: I think I killed someone.
- Jen: What? Where are you?
- Marlow: I’m on my way to my grandpa’s house, on a pay phone. I didn’t mean to do it, I swear...
- Jen: Who was it?
- Marlow: My taxi driver.
- Jen: Taxi driver?
- Marlow: He was driving me from the airport to my grandpa’s.
- Jen: The fuck, Marlow! I told you to take a bus.
Lately, I feel like every idea I come up with is stupid. My brain doesn’t like me anymore. So I’m doing the polite thing and not liking him back…

Just wrote the premise and storyboard for my experimental film. So looking forward to filming it now! I don’t want to tell you much because I’ll probably go ape shit on it later and change everything, but for now it is called “Hi, My Name is Mike.”
And I really hope that title isn’t taken…
Just looked it up and it’s not. Can I get a hell ya with extra sprinkles and a cherry on top!?
I’ve been putting off making this short film about a guy in a crane costume because I know it’ll come off as super cutesy. But I don’t really care anymore. I like the idea and I have everything I need to start filming. My brother is on board and I’m pretty sure I can recruit Eli. This is happening. This is happening this weekend soon.

Three Parter
Trying to finish my “Conversation with a Monster” script actually turned out pretty hazardous in an awesome kind of way. When I was getting through the dialogue, I realized…nothing really happens in this story. It’s nice to read, but very uninteresting to watch/film.
Then, at one of my way-too-early/4:30-does-not-belong-in-the-morning shifts at work, I had an idea to make the “film” into three parts, or episodes. It actually has quite a bit of action in story now and the “Conversation w/a Monster” part acts as a contrast to all the running around. It’s a separate part that is still part of the whole. I’m just having trouble cutting down the dialogue now to make it more interesting/relevant/concise.
I also would like to buy a decent/decently priced shotgun microphone before filming. So if anyone knows where I can get one, please let me know. I’m on the hunt.
Also need to think of a title for the series. I suck at titles.
